The New Tricentennial Monument
The Tricentennial Monument, erected at Queen’s Dock in the historic Sandwich West neighborhood of Windsor, is a lasting tribute to the early Francophone communities that made significant contributions to the cultural, social, and economic development of the region. It was officially inaugurated on March 21, 2025, in a very festive atmosphere.
The monument is shaped like half of a canoe — a powerful symbol representing the arrival of Francophone pioneers via the waterways. The project was made possible thanks to the financial support of three key partners:

Le nouveau Monument tricentenaire
Le monument tricentenaire érigé à Queens’ Dock dans le quartier historique de Sandwich Ouest à Windsor, représente un hommage durable aux premières communautés francophones ayant contribué de façon significative au développement culturel, social et économique de la région. Il a été inauguré officiellement le 21 mars 2025 dans une ambiance très festive.
Le monument est un demi-canoë, un symbole fort représentant l’arrivée des pionniers francophones par la voie lacustre. Le projet a bénéficié du soutien financier de trois partenaires clés :
– Le Pont International Gordie Howe
– Le Programme d’appui à la francophonie ontarienne (PAFO)
– Le Centre communautaire francophone de Windsor-Essex-Kent (CCFWEK)
– L’Autorité du port de Windsor
